Insolvency Law · Netherlands
Advocaat · Legaltree · Rotterdam
After his law degree in Groningen, Otto de Witt Wijnen (1970) studied European law in Rouen France for another year. Otto has been a lawyer at Kneppelhout & Korthals since 1996. In 2002 he became a partner. Following a broad legal practice training, Otto has been committed to insolvency law since 1998. He is frequently appointed curator by several courts in large and medium-sized bankruptcies. In addition to his work as a curator, Otto advises companies that face bankruptcy in one way or another. These may be suppliers who continue to claim delivered but unpaid items, directors or supervisory directors who are against curators or companies themselves in severe weather. Preventing bankruptcy, reorganisation or restart is then a tried and tested remedy. Banks and financiers who want to establish or win securities can also go to De Witt Wijnen. His extensive practice experience as a curator makes Otto the ideal advisor and sparring partner. After all, he knows how curators think and operate. The bankruptcy of contracts and general terms and conditions is also part of Otto's field of activity. As head of the Insolvency Law group, Otto directs Kneppelhout & Korthals' other insolvency law specialists. In 2001, Otto completed the postdoctoral Grotius/INSOLAD training in insolvency law and in 2005 the postdoc financial economy for Curators. Otto often gives lectures for insurers, banks and the Chamber of Commerce. Perhaps because of the French origin of his wife, Otto has a wide international interest. He is the current chairman of the Dutch delegation of the Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats (AIJA), an international association of young lawyers. Within this club he was previously chairman of the Insolvency Law Commission. This broad international network regularly proves its usefulness in the cross-border issues that come to the Agency. Otto likes to run fast, in the office and for his clients. And to maintain the condition also around the Kralingse lake. Time for the family and the inevitable french hobbies wine and cooking is there among the companies by fortunately also. Rest finds Otto at Bach and on the golf course.
