About

Sehmani KingSun-Leo is a Licensed Paralegal and entrepreneur with over 18 years of experience in the legal space. Sehmani has worked in the Toronto and Central East regions in the Ontario & Superior Courts as a Court Clerk/Registrar, which makes her very knowledgeable about court practices. Sehmani holds a paralegal diploma, an alternative dispute resolution certificate and court support certification. When she isn't running her practice, she supports her community, particularly in hosting networking events for legal professionals and moderating events to bring light to issues such as practice management, rehabilitation after incarceration and programming for single mothers. Sehmani has persevered past all obstacles put in front of her and she is now a licensed professional, college professor, notary public and an inspiration to young mothers who want to learn to see past their circumstances.

Sehmani believes in sharing transparent passion stories and encourages women to have a powerful voice as another woman may be listening.

Her professional journey began at 21 years old, when she started out as legal assistant at a law firm. A single mother of a 2-year old and living on a low-income, she did not see very many opportunities in front of her. Sehmani did not want to become a statistic and was determined to make a better life for her and her child. Pushing forward, working full-time jobs and obtaining an education at the same time, was no easy feat. She never gave up on her dream to receive an education that propelled her into the legal space.

Throughout Sehmani's journey, she hosted and moderated events in the creative space and gathered high-profiled community members to speak up on issues such as rehabilitation programming and mentorship to Black youth and men in an annual event series called 'It Was Written'. This event provided an opportunity for community members to gather at Toronto City Hall to discuss the important topics that effected the parole programming after extended incarceration.
