Shanil Amar Patel

Shanil provides tailored legal services to clients in the Greater Toronto Area. He practices mental health law before the Consent and Capacity Board, the Ontario Review Board, and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

Shanil obtained his J.D. from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 2020. Prior to going to law school, he studied philosophy at McGill University in Montreal. He began his legal career at a top 10 plaintiff-side litigation firm before spending one year as a lawyer for an insurance company.

Shanil is a member of the Advocates' Society, the South Asian Bar Association and the Law and Mental Disorder Association. He has presented on issues surrounding mental health law for Legal Aid Ontario. He is also an Associate Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
