LENA WHITE LAWYER Lena has always been very interested in refugee and immigration concerns. She and her family volunteered to help refugees from Kosovo adjust to life in Canada. She also initiated a school sponsorship program between her high school and a high school in Kathmandu. Lena continued to work as an ESL instructor throughout her undergraduate degree. She obtained a B.A. with distinction in Psychology from SFU, and then her J.D. from the University of Victoria. Lena has volunteered recently as an ESL instructor for newcomers to Canada via the SHARE society and as a researcher at Rise Women’s Legal Clinic. Lena is especially concerned about the plight of abused women in her practice as a refugee lawyer and has worked with many clients facing these issues. In her spare time, Lena loves to play with her son, be outdoors, paint, travel, write, and enjoy the community where she lives.
